School readiness has a significant impact on school performance, future education and career opportunities, physical and emotional well-being as well as other important life outcomes. Yet few parents in the U.S. have a clear understanding of how school readiness is defined or how to effectively support learning and development at home. It should, therefore, come as no surprise that the vast majority of our nation's children come to school without the prerequisite skills they need to adequately benefit from formal instruction.
Fortunately, we now know enough about early development and learning to no longer leave our children's futures to chance.
The Parent Curriculum for this stage will include:

Comprehensive early childhood learning and development evaluations will become the first component of the wellness visit protocol for children ages 2 months - 30 months. At the conclusion of the wellness visit, pediatricians will discuss the following with parents:
Starting at age 3, children's developmental progress in all domains associated with school readiness will be evaluated every six months by local education agencies accredited by the state department of education.
